Javelin star says his heart belongs to Pakistan, and he wants to play for his country


Lahore: Pakistan’s Olympic hero, Arshad Nadeem, has turned down multiple offers from other countries eager to have him represent them on the global stage, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to his homeland.
Arshad, who recently made a history by becoming Pakistan's first-ever individual Olympic gold medalist with his extraordinary 92.97-meter javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024.
His exceptional performance captured international attention, leading to offers from nations like the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, among others.
In a recent interview, Arshad revealed that despite the tempting offers, he firmly rejected them, choosing instead to stay true to his roots. "I have been offered to represent countries like UAE, UK, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, but I declined. My heart belongs to Pakistan, and I want to play for my country, regardless of the outcome," he declared with pride.
Arshad further shared that while he serves as a brand ambassador in Uzbekistan, he refused their offer to compete under their flag, emphasizing that his loyalty remains with Pakistan.
