Security plan formed for Chehlum Imam Hussain, Urs Data Hajveri
680 congregations will be held on the occasion of Chehlum Hazrat Imam, 382 funeral processions, more than 30,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties
Lahore: A security plan has been formed for Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Urs Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri.
Punjab Police has completed security arrangements for funeral processions, Majalis and Urs celebrations.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that full security arrangements will be made for majalis, funeral processions, and Urs celebrations in the entire province including Lahore.
According to the police, 680 congregations will be held on the occasion of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain, 382 funeral processions, more than 30,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties. Special police, traffic police, and volunteers will also assist in security arrangements.
IG Punjab stated that more than 7,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for the security of 44 assemblies and five processions in Lahore. On the occasion of the Urs of Data Ali Hajveri, strong measures will be taken for the security of pilgrims coming from all over the country.
He added that snipers would be posted on the roofs of the buildings that come along the routes of mourning processions. The lady officials will be posted on duty for the search and security of women mourners. Security officials should be given an effective briefing about the sensitivity of the duty.
Security arrangements were completed in Rawalpindi on the occasion of Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala.
According to the police officials, more than 4,400 officers will be deployed in the main procession, 215 traffic police officers and personnel will maintain the traffic flow, and walk-through gates have been installed at the entry points of the procession. Entry into the procession will be allowed after a thorough body search.
Police said that CCTV monitoring is also being done in the procession routes. Snipers have been deployed on rooftops. Streets, roads, neighborhoods, and avenues along the route have been sealed.
According to traffic police, Committee Chowk to Iqbal road is closed for traffic. Full diversion has been done at DAV College Chowk. Public service transport will be diverted from DAV Chowk. Other traffic will be diverted from Golmandi to Dhok Kumhar to Bhosa Godam. Traffic will go from Cinema Chowk to Purodhai via Ganjmundi Road.
