Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order, protect human life and property


Lahore: After Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Mianwali, the Punjab government also imposed Section 144 in Lahore for six days, under which all kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, demonstrations, protests, and all such activities will be banned.
In the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, it has been stated that the ban will be applied from Thursday, October 3 to Tuesday, October 8.
It has been further stated that Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order, protect human life and property.
According to the notification, any public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists in view of security threats.
It is further stated that the decision to implement Section 144 was taken on the recommendation of the district administration.
It is pertinent to note that on October 1, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 for two days in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur and seven days in Mianwali and banned all kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, protests, and all such activities.
In a separate notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, it was said that Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order and to protect human lives and property. The ban has been imposed in Mianwali, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur because of the threat of terrorism.
It was further stated that any public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists because of security threats.
