PTA blocks unregistered VPNs in Pakistan

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) has started blocking unregistered VPNs in the country.
According to media reports, PTA has started blocking unregistered VPNs in the country and this decision has been taken to whitelist VPNs.
It is also reported that unregistered VPNs are a security risk. Illegal VPNs can access sensitive data and illegal content.
Media reports suggest that PTA started registration of VPNs in 2010 and so far around 20,500 VPNs have been registered while more than 1,422 companies have registered VPNs so far.
What is VPN?
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and is the name of a network that allows users to browse incognito.
In all such countries where internet users are not able to access social media sites, can access them with the help of VPN by changing their location.
