Wedding bus capsizes in river, two dead, 22 missing
According to rescue officer, so far two bodies have been recovered from the accident site
Astor: Two people were killed when a passenger bus full of wedding guests from Gilgit-Baltistan's Astore district to Rawalpindi district of Punjab plunged into the river, while the search for 22 more missing passengers is on.
Wazir Asad, the officer of the rescue organization engaged in relief activities, said that rescue teams and ambulances have been dispatched to the accident site. The coaster full of passengers had left from Presang village in Astor district of Gilgit-Baltistan for Rawalpindi district of Punjab.
He stated that as soon as the accident was reported, the police and the administration have been mobilized and efforts are being made to save the lives of the passengers who suffered the accident.
According to the rescue officer, so far two bodies have been recovered from the accident site while one girl is injured, the search is on for 22 more missing people.
The rescue officer added the accident site is three hours away from Astor and the accident site is within the limits of Diamar district.
It is pertinent to note that last month, a passenger bus of a private company going from Gilgit-Baltistan to Rawalpindi fell into a ditch at Shetial in Upper Kohistan after the driver lost control, killing two people and injuring 26 others.
