T20I series: Australia defeat Pakistan by 29 runs in first match
Green shirts won the toss and elected to field first
Brisbane: Australia on Thursday defeated Pakistan by 29 runs in rain-hit game of the three-match T20 series at Brisbane.
In pursuit of 94-run target, Shaheen secured 64 runs in seven overs.
The Team Green’s run-chase began with unimpressive batting by the openers as Rizwan was removed for duck while Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for eight runs. Babar Azam also failed to show magic with the bat as he could score only three.
After the opening and middle order collapsed quickly, Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Afridi and Haseebullah Khan from tail tried to put their side closer to victory but visitors remained dominant in bowling section after displaying fireworks in batting.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first in the rain-hit first T20 against Australia in Brisbane. The game was reduced to seven overs each side due to rain. The play would begin at 3:30 PM Pakistan Local Time.
The match was set to begin at 1:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time, but rain prevented the toss from taking place. The pitch was covered due to downpour in Brisbane.
Haseebullah Khan and Salman Ali Agha would make a T20I debut in the game being played at Brisbane today (Thursday).
