Highest population growth rate was recorded in Lower Kohistan at 9.05 percent


Lahore: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released details of the population growth rate across the country, including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, from 2017 to 2023.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the urban population of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan is increasing rapidly. The population growth rate in urban areas of Punjab has reached three times that of rural areas, while the urban population growth rate in Sindh and Balochistan is also increasing rapidly.
The data shows that the Nankana Sahib district of Punjab leads the population growth rate across the country. East Karachi district in Sindh, Kohistan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Washik district in Balochistan have the fastest population growth rates.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s population has grown at an average annual rate of 2.55 percent over the last seven years, with the rural population growing at 1.88 percent and the urban population growing at 3.67 percent.
The data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics from 2017 to 2023 stated that the population growth rate of Punjab was 2.53 percent. The rural population of Punjab increased by 1.46 percent while the urban population increased by 4.24 percent.
The highest population growth rate in Punjab was in Nankana Sahib district at 3.19 percent.
According to the data, the average annual population growth rate of Sindh was 2.57 percent. The rural population of Sindh increased by 1.82 percent and the urban population by 3.24 percent.
The highest population growth rate in Sindh was recorded in Karachi’s East District at 5.32 percent.
Similarly, the population growth rate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was 2.38 percent. The rural population in KP was 2.69 percent and the urban population growth rate was 0.72 percent.
The highest population growth rate was recorded in the Lower Kohistan district at 9.05 percent.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average annual population growth rate in Balochistan was 3.20 percent. Here, the rural population growth rate was 2.39 percent, and the urban population increased by 5.19 percent.
The highest population growth rate in Balochistan was recorded in Washik district at 9.51 percent.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the population of the federal capital Islamabad grew at an average rate of 2.80 percent annually. The rural population increased by 3.97 percent and the urban population by 1.59 percent.
