India's star cricketer retires from int’l cricket
Indian Cricket Board also paid tribute to Ashwin on his retirement
India's star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has announced retirement from international cricket.
At the end of the third Test match against Australia in Brisbane, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement in a press conference with Captain Rohit Sharma.
On this occasion, Ravichandran Ashwin said, ‘I thank everyone who supported me in this journey of cricket, especially BCCI, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara’.
Ravi Ashwin stated, 'It was my last day as a cricketer in all formats. I enjoyed my career a lot, there are many memorable moments and this moment of retirement is quite emotional’.
On the other hand, the Indian Cricket Board also paid tribute to Ashwin on his retirement.
BCCI in a message on social media congratulated Ashwin on a great career.
It is pertinent to note that Ashwin represented India in 106 Test matches in which he took 537 wickets, while he played 116 ODIs and 65 T20 matches.
