China to impose retaliatory tariffs on US products today

Beijing: In response to the tariffs imposed by US President Trump, China's retaliatory tariffs on imports of American products will take effect from today.

US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs (taxes) on imports of Chinese products in the past few days, on which the Chinese government also imposed retaliatory tariffs on products coming from the US to China, which will take effect from today.

According to foreign media, Chinese authorities will collect a 10 to 15 percent tariff on products sent from the US to China from today, February 10.

A 15 percent levy will be collected on coal and gas products imported from the US, while a 10 percent tariff will be collected on US-imported crude oil and auto parts.

It is pertinent to note that US President Donald Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff (tax) on goods imported from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent tariff on goods sent from China to the US at the beginning of this month.

In response to the US tariffs, Canada and Mexico also announced retaliatory tariffs on US imports, but later President Trump announced a month-long suspension of the tariffs imposed on both countries, after which Canada and Mexico also withdrew their announcements.

On the other hand, Trump did not withdraw the tariff imposed on China, in response to which China also maintained its decision to impose its tariffs.

US President Trump announced a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum products this week, but it is not clear to which countries this tariff will apply.

However, France says that the European Union will respond to any tariff imposed by the US.

The French Foreign Minister says that European partners should not hesitate to defend their interests. Trump did the same in 2018, so we responded and we will respond now. A trade war with the EU is not in anyone's interest.
