Beijing: A four-year-old Pakistani girl, Aiza, suffering from Thalassemia Major, was successfully treated in China.
The hospital administration said that a base editing drug called CS-101 was used in the treatment of thalassemia major. The girl was successfully treated with a gene editing drug manufactured in China, after which the girl will now be able to lead a normal life, while this technology was used for the first time on a foreign minor.
The hospital administration also organized a ceremony to celebrate the girl’s recovery.
According to the administration, the girl had arrived in Shanghai with her parents in January for treatment.
