Big rail will likely reach Panjnad by Sept 5


Lahore: Director General (DG) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, has said that there is still a flood situation in the rivers of Punjab, and cracks can be made in the dams to save the urban population.
Talking to the media in Lahore on the flood situation, he stated that all types of traffic have been stopped at Head Muhammad Wala. Water has currently entered Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
Irfan Ali Kathia added that 3,243 villages and hamlets have been affected by the flood so far. More than 2.452 million people have been affected by the flood so far. The big rail will likely reach Panjnad by September 5.
The DG PDMA further said that the water flow at Head Baloki is 137,000 cusecs. A high level of flood is expected in the Sutlej River, and the rail from Chenab will reach Multan from Head Trimo tonight.
He also stated that the next 24 hours are very important at Head Sadhanai; if the level rises at Head Sadhanai, the areas of Pir Mahal and Khanewal may be affected.
