Magnitude 4.8 earthquake hits Iran

Tehran: The earthquake struck the southwestern Iran on Wednesday but no immediate reports of significant damage.

According to the foreign media reports, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake has struck Andika Andika district of Khuzestan province. People were taking to the streets reciting Kalima Tayyaba due to the fear of earthquakes.

The epicentre of the earthquake on Wednesday was near the town of Andeka. The earthquake was centred 29km away from the Andika. 

Meanwhile, no information was yet available about casualties or material damage.

Iran is located in a seismically active zone, and the country has seen many catastrophic earthquakes in the past.

In 2021, at least four earthquakes were reported to hit different parts of Iran.
