According to details, the court had reserved its verdict to be announced on March 31; however, it was pronounced today in which ban on Umar Akmal was reduced by six months.

Court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 4.2 million on the cricketer.

The 30-year old had approached International Arbitration Court with a plea to reduce the ban imposed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The cricketing body on the other hand had appealed to the International Arbitration Court against the reduction of Akmal’s ban.

It may be recalled that Umar Akmal was banned for 36 months for violating the anti-corruption code but the sentence was reduced from 36 to 18 months by an independent adjudicator after the cricketer filed an appeal.

Following the hearing on the appeals filed by Akmal and PCB, the Sports Arbitration Court had reserved judgment on December 01, 2020.
