Sugar price increases by Rs3 per kg

Lahore: The sugar prices hiked by Rs3 per kg and the retail price of sugar has increased to Rs160 per kg.

The cane commissioner of Punjab stated if the smuggling of sugar is not stopped, we may face a crisis.

Market dealers say that a 50 kg bag has become Rs7600 in the wholesale market.

While the retailers say that a 50 kg bag of sugar costs Rs8000 and the price of sugar has increased by Rs5 per kg in the last few days.

As reported by market sources, the Cane Commissioner Punjab has asked for the records of the stocks from the sugar mills and the hoarders have become active when the records are asked. The stocks are running out due to Chinese smuggling

On the other hand, Cane Commissioner Punjab Abdul Rauf has issued letters to the Deputy Commissioners of Punjab, in which it has been said that if the smuggling of sugar is not stopped, a crisis situation may have to be faced.

The Kane Commissioner clarified that stocks are running out due to sugar smuggling, the existing stocks of sugar should be strictly monitored; strict legal action should be taken against the smugglers.

According to the sources, the Kane Commissioner issued letters to the Deputy Commissioners of Rajanpur, DG Khan, Mianwali, and Rahim Yar Khan.
