Islamabad: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released final results of sixth Population and Housing Census-2017 on its official website, showing that country’s population is 207.68 million.

The population growth rate of 2.40 percent from 1998 to 2017 with 106.3 million males and 101.3 million females.
According to the data released by the Statistics Agency, the total population of Pakistan consists of 106,018,220 males and 101,344,632 females while the population of eunuchs is 21,774.
As per data, country’s predominant majority 132.013 million people lives in rural areas.
The statistics agency says that the rural population is 132,013,789 and the urban population is 75,670,837. The population of Punjab Province is 1099, 89,655, while the population of Sindh is 47,854,510.
Sindh is the most urbanized province with total 47.854 million population, having 51.88 percent population in urban areas, whereas 48.12 percent is rural population.
Population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 35 million 8 thousand 920 while the population of Balochistan is 123 million 35 thousand 129.
The population of FATA is 49, 93,044, while the population of Islamabad is 2, 03,368.
In March, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar had said that the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting approved census results of 2017 on a condition that another census would not have to wait another decade.
The bureau on its website stated, “The Council of Common Interests (CCI) on Dec 16, 2016 decided to conduct the census in two phases with the support of the armed forces. The PBS demarcated the whole country into small compact areas called census clocks comprising 200 to 250 houses on an average, with a total number of over 1.68 million blocks with well-defined boundaries and maps. The entire delimitation process was carried out with the close coordination of provincial governments, local governments, revenue department and district administrations”.
