Election Commissioner Punjab ready to fulfil constitutional duties
Ijaz Anwar further said that all political stakeholders are requested to adhere to the SOPs issued by the Election Commission.
Lahore: Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab Ijaz Anwar Chauhan Tuesday said that the Election Commission is fully ready to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities.
While briefing a news conference in Lahore, Election Commissioner Punjab Ijaz Anwar stated that the polling staff will get the election materials tomorrow. The arrangements for delivery of the polling materials are complete, SOPs have been issued for the officials on police duty.
He added: “We have created a control room in every district and division of Punjab, a control room has also been established in the Election Commission Secretariat. There are 51,000 polling stations in Punjab, all District Returning Officers (DROs) of Punjab have received my instructions”.
Ijaz Anwar further said that all political stakeholders are requested to adhere to the SOPs issued by the Election Commission, voters will be provided a good environment at the polling stations, special security arrangements have been made at the polling stations. Pakistan Army will also provide its services in Punjab.
‘My clear instructions have also been issued to the Punjab government. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) will perform their duties following the instructions of Election Commission. All political parties will be provided with a level playing field. All federal institutions are bound to follow the Election Commission under Article 220,’ he ascertained.
