Session court approves more physical remand of Asad Toor
However, the court adjourned the hearing on March 7.
Islamabad: The district and session court has approved physical remand for two more day of journalist Asad Toor.
According to the details, judicial magistrate Shabbir Bhatti gave the reserved verdict in that case. Journalist Asad Toor’s plea against the summon of Federal Investigation agency (FIA) and harassment has heard by chief justice Aamir Farooq in Islamabad High Court (IHC). Asad’s lawyer Eman Zainab Mazarin appeared in the court.
Aamir Farooq asked to deputy attorney general that he had said deputy to submit a report. The court said that the notice which has been given was something else and the first information report was something else.
Chief justice questioned that what is the current status of the applicant. FIA’s lawyer replied that the applicant is on physical remand at this time.
Lawyer Eman said that the case was filed under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) but the notice was something else.
Aamir Farooq said that it does not happen that a first information report was filed and the accused was arrested. It is admitted that the applicant would have done something wrong but on first information report an accused cannot be arrested. Is it according to the law? He asked.
The court said that whatever in the application was written the court cannot give relief opposite to that and asked the further final arguments from the lawyer and FIA’s lawyers tomorrow (Thursday).
However, the court adjourned the hearing on March 7.
