PTI moves SC against NA legislation over reserved seats' allotment

Islamabad: Yet in another tough time for the PML-N-led government, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the amendments to the Election Act 2017.

Both the National Assembly and the Senate passed the bill with a majority.

PTI Chairman Gohar Khan filed the plea under Article 184(3) of the Constitution via lawyer Barrister Salman Akram Raja. It urges the apex court to declare the Elections (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 bill "null and void".

The PML-N-led coalition bulldozed the legislation through the NA as well as the Senate amid stern resistance from the opposition benches.
