Social media safety firewall successfully tested in Pakistan
Mobile apps disrupted in several cities including Rawalpindi and Islamabad

Islamabad: The second and final successful trial of the social media safety firewall in Pakistan was completed last night.
According to private news channel, there has been no official confirmation or denial from the Ministry of Information Technology and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) regarding the trial. However, a senior official from the Ministry of Information Technology indicated that the matter pertains to the PTA.
Meanwhile, internet services across Pakistan continue to experience disruptions. Users in various cities, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, are facing issues with mobile apps, and download speeds have significantly slowed down.
Experts point to several technical reasons for the slow internet, including cable quality, increased digital traffic, and weather changes. However, some sources suggest that the safety firewall trial might be responsible for the internet disruptions.
The purpose of the safety firewall is to curb illegal activities on social media and enhance online security. The system is designed to easily trace users engaging in unusual activities on social media.
The PTA has yet to issue an official statement regarding the internet service disruptions.
Some sources claim that after the successful completion of the second safety firewall trial, all social media platforms will resume normal operations, and internet services will be fully restored.
