Supreme Court accepted the appeals of the federal government and issued notices to Najam Saqib and Bushra Bibi

Islamabad: The Supreme Court Monday suspended the decisions of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while hearing the federal government's request on the audio leaks case of Najam Saqib—son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar—and former first lady Bushra Bibi and restrained the court from further proceedings.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan heard the request of the federal government to challenge the decision of the Islamabad High Court on June 25.
At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Aminuddin inquired whether the High Court had determined who was recording the audio. The Additional Attorney General replied that it has not been determined yet, the investigation is underway.
Justice Naeem Akhtar remarked: “Unfortunately no one wants to reach the truth in this country. An inquiry commission was formed to find out the truth, which was stayed by the Supreme Court. The audio leaks case has not been fixed in the Supreme Court again to date. When the parliament tried to know the truth, it was also stopped. Neither the parliament will be allowed to work nor the court, how will the truth come out”.
On this, Justice Aminuddin Khan said that it could also be that those who are being talked to have leaked the audio, has this aspect been considered? Nowadays, every mobile has a recording system.
Later, the Supreme Court accepted the appeals of the federal government and issued notices to Najam Saqib and Bushra Bibi.
The court remarked that the IHC cannot proceed with the case related to the audio leaks. The May 29 and June 25 orders of the IHC are more than authority, it had no authority to take suo motu notice.
Along with this, the Supreme Court also called for the records of the audio leaks case at the request of the federal government.
