Lahore: 1kg of gold ornaments and goods worth millions of rupees were recovered from a passenger at Lahore Airport coming from Dubai.

On a tip-off from Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani, Customs acted at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and foiled an attempt to smuggle gold, mobile phones, and other valuables worth millions of rupees.

An attempt to smuggle 1.028kg of gold ornaments, six diamond pages, and five mobile phones into Pakistan from a passenger coming from Dubai at Allama Iqbal International Airport was foiled.

The accused Asif was arrested on the spot and the recovered goods were confiscated by the government. The total value of the goods is approximately Rs32.2 million. The accused had secretly hidden gold ornaments, diamonds and mobile phones under his clothes on Air Blue International flight number 417-PA coming from Dubai to Lahore, which was foiled by the Customs Department officials taking timely action.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Customs Act and an investigation has been initiated.
