COVID cases continue steep decline in Pakistan
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 723 persons were tested positive while 7 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,298.
Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing a significant drop in the daily coronavirus death count for the few days after over a month hike, the health department’s data showed Friday morning.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 723 persons were tested positive while 7 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,298.
Pakistan imposed new restrictions to curb the fast-spreading Omicron variant, hence, the positivity rate now stands at 1.82%. While the cumulative tally of the country has now climbed to 1,517,512.
As many as 1,469,405 patients have recovered from the disease.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 503,426 in the province with 13,535 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 571,268 in the province, while the death toll has reached 8,089.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 217,857 in the province with 6,297 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 35,427 confirmed cases while 377 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 43,159 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 790. On the other hand, there are 11,608 cases in GB with 191 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 134,767 cases in the capital city while 1,019 people have lost their lives.
