New Delhi: In a major setback for Indian Air Force, a MiG-21 aircraft crashed during during training mission leaving the pilot dead.

According to details, the accident occurred early morning when the aircraft was taking off for a combat training mission at an airbase.
The deceased pilot has been identified as Captain A Gupta.
Shortly after the incident, Indian Air Force released a statement saying,
"IAF expresses deep condolences and stands firmly with the family members. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident."
