ECP has become ‘partial’: Asad Umar
The second phase of the LG elections in 16 districts of Karachi and Hyderabad will now take place on August 28.
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general Asad Umar on Thursday claimed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has become completely a ‘partial’ body.
The reaction of the PTI's Asad Umar came in following the ECP's announcement to delay the second phase of the Local Bodies polls in Sindh and NA-245 Karachi by-poll.
While calling ECP ‘partial’, the former federal minister said that the postponement of the Sindh LG polls just before three days on the excuse of recent rains is beyond one’s understanding.
PTI secretary general Asad Umar claimed not a single Pakistani has faith in ECP that it will hold fair, free, and transparent elections. Asad Umar said whatever decision ECP takes, PTI will defeat political opponents like it did in Punjab by-elections.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday postponed the second phase of the local government elections in Sindh due to inclement weather and Moharram-ul-Haram.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja. According to the new schedule, the second phase of LG elections in Sindh would be held on August 28 instead of July 24.
