Major power breakdown hits parts of country
"The power ministry is working to restore the supply"
Karachi: A major power breakdown has hit Karachi and other cities of the country as an Extra High Tension (EHT) line tripped and affected the power supply.
According to a statement issued by the power division, six units were tripped due to a technical glitch in Guddu Thermal Power Station.
These six units had been generating 832 megawatts of electricity, and due to their tripping, electricity production has been reduced to zero.
The power ministry is working to restore the supply, the statement added.
The power ministry said that the fault has affected the power plants of MEPCO and K-Electric triggering the breakdown in Karachi and parts of South Punjab including Multan, Muzaffargarh.
