'Trash me all day but it'll cost USD 8 per month: Elon Musk tweets

Washington: Elon Musk has yet again taken to Twitter to let the world know that he is vehemently defending his decision to charge users to get verified accounts on Twitter; and seems in no mood to budge on his 'blue tick for USD 8' announcement, despite the criticism he has been receiving from various quarters.
As the new owner of Twitter Elon Musk is facing criticism from some people for his $8 for Twitter blue tick plan and his decision to fire nearly half of Twitter's staff. Musk, however, remains determined on blue tick fee.
"Trash me all day, but it'll cost $8," he tweeted.

The Tesla CEO has been posting tweets for a couple of days now in support of the latest move to sell blue ticks to those who can afford it.
“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month," he tweeted earlier.
He believes the subscription fee will give Twitter “a revenue stream to reward content creators" while the company won’t have to depend on advertisers.
The blue tick in front of a user's name that authenticates the account will now be charged eight dollars per month.
Earlier, an American politician named Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, tried to mock the billionaire, but she herself ended up getting mocked and ridiculed.
"Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8," wrote Musk.
