16 injured in stampede at BISP Karachi center

Karachi: 16 women were injured and got fainted when a stampede broke out at the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) center at the KPT ground in Kemari, area of Karachi.
According to details, a number of ambulances were dispatched to rescue the injured women who have been shifted to the hospital.
The rescue officials reported that one of the injured woman is in critical condition.
On the other hand, local police stated that Benazir Income Support Program camp was set up at the KPT School, outside which a large number of women and children were present.
It added that when the gate of the school was opened, there was a stampede to get inside.

Whereas Superintendent of Police (SP) Baldia Mugheez Hashmi says that 20 women have reached the civil hospital, 16 women were injured and unconscious, other four went to the hospital for medical assistance along with the injured women.
The SP continued to say: “Sue to the lack of space in the school, people were being sent inside intermittently. When the gate was opened, number of people at the gate was very high”.
There was a slope at the opening of the gate due to which the women fell down, whereas many women fainted due to heat, he added.
