Lahore: Special Central Court Lahore Monday acquitted Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif's son Suleman Shahbaz and other accused in the money laundering case, GNN reported.

According to details, the case was heard on the pleas of acquittal of Suleman Shahbaz and other accused. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted answers to 27 questions in the court.

Judge Bakht Fakhr Behzad asked who had conducted the money laundering inquiry. FIA counsel responded: “The inquiry was conducted by Joint Investigation Team (JIT), headed by Dr. Rizwan”.

The judge inquired if FIA has recorded the statement of a single witness in the entire investigation, to which FIA investigation officer remained silent in the court.

While giving remarks, he asked what action was taken against those who kept changing their position during the inquiry and investigation. The investigating officer told the court that we did not take any action.

Bakht Fakhar questioned, “Whether there is any evidence in Volume 7 of the FIA”?

The judge remarked, “Tell me straight and do not make stories. I have read everything, keep it in mind that I will send all FIA officer to jail right now. I need answers that what is the proof of crime with the challan”.

Later, the special central court acquitted Suleman Shehbaz in the FIA money laundering case.

Earlier in November 2020, the case was registered against Sharif family in which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his other son Hamza Shehbaz were also named.

The challan of the case was presented before the court on November 2021 after which court proceeded the case and later acquitted the prime minister and his son Hamza.
