MQM nominates Rana Ansar as opposition leader in Sindh Assembly
Farooq Sattar says they have not come for this role by their own but to fill the gap as democracy cannot properly work without the opposition.
Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) nominated Rena Ansar as the opposition leader in the provincial assembly of Sindh, saying that there is no opposition leader at the moment.
“The democracy is not possible without proper opposition,” said Farooq Sattar while talking to the media in Karachi on Friday.
“We, being the opposition, will work for the people of Sindh and the MQM has strong confidence in Rehna Ansar for this role,” he further said. He justified the move by saying that they did not come by themselves rather they had been there to fulfill the gap.
He stated that being opposition, they would also play their role for the caretaker Sindh chief minister, adding that the important decisions would be made before dissolutions of the assemblies.
Farooq Sattar held it responsible for poor census in the region, and unfortunately, the PPP also did not give any appropriate answer about the delimitations.
He regretted that the PDM government did not fulfill the promises made with them, saying that the long period of five years passed and they just continued to make demands during this period.
“The demands for which we had joined the coalition government have not been met,” said Farooq Sattar, pointing out that no amendments were made in the the local government Act 2013.
