The federal government has decided to increase the basic electricity tariff by Rs4.96 per unit.


Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the price of electricity for K-electric consumers also.
According to details, NEPRA has increased the price of electricity for K-electric customers by Rs1.44 per unit.
The price of electricity has been increased for K-electric consumers in fuel adjustment charges for the month of May.
According to Nepra, the additional amount will be charged from the consumers in the July bill for which the notification has been issued.
Increase in basic electricity tariff
The federal government has decided to increase the basic electricity tariff by Rs4.96 per unit.
After the government's decision, per unit of electricity is expected to exceed Rs50 on an average.
It has also been reported that official announcement of the increase in electricity price by NEPRA is likely to be made today (Saturday).
At present, the basic electricity tariff for the entire country is Rs24.82, while last fiscal year the basic electricity tariff was increased from Rs16.91 to settle at Rs24.82.
