Lahore: Inzamam was named as chief selector of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, the sources said on Monday.

He was also appointed as a member of the esteemed Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the past week.

The committee, which is headed by former captain Misbah-ul-Haq, also includes the seasoned cricketer Mohammad Hafeez.

Previously, Inzamam served as the chief selector for the Pakistan team during the period from April 2016 to July 2019. His tenure as chief selector coincided with Pakistan's triumphant victory in the Champions Trophy.

Having been an essential part of the iconic ICC Men's Cricket World Cup-winning squad in 1992, Inzamam brings a wealth of experience to the table. Throughout his cricketing career, he also took on the role of captain for Pakistan in various phases between 2001 and 2007.

Inzamam's batting prowess is well-regarded, and he holds the record for the highest number of One-Day International (ODI) runs scored by any Pakistani batter, amassing an impressive 11,739 runs in 378 matches at an average of 39.52. He further exhibited his batting excellence with ten centuries and 83 half-centuries in the ODI format. In the Test arena, Inzamam accumulated 8,830 runs in 120 matches, boasting an average of 49.60, accompanied by 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries.

Even in the shortest format of the game, Inzamam's impact was felt as he led Pakistan to victory in their maiden Twenty20 International (T20I) appearance against England at Bristol in August 2006.
