DC Pindi's power to detain anyone at any time restored
A division bench comprising Justice Jawad Hasan and Justice Waqas Rauf suspended the decision on the appeal of DC.
Rawalpindi: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench Wednesday restored the authority of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the city to detain anyone at any time without permission.
According to details, the division bench of LHC Rawalpindi suspended the single bench decision to prior judicial permission for 3 Maintenance of Public Order (MPOs).
A division bench comprising Justice Jawad Hasan and Justice Waqas Rauf suspended the decision on the appeal of DC and issued a notice to the parties seeking their response within two weeks.
While the court adjourned the next hearing of the appeal to the first week of September.
Earlier, Justice Anwar-ul-Haq had passed the MPO orders of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi subject to judicial permission and the court had directed the DC to take permission from the court before issuing the MPO order.
The decision was issued on a petition filed against the detention of Shehryar Afridi. The court suspended the MPO orders of 57 Pakistan Thereek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers including Shehryar Afridi and his brother.
