London: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday called for Inquiry into President Alvi's Conduct Amid Constitutional Crisis.

During a media interaction, former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged for an official investigation into the actions of President Arif Alvi, following his tweet that led to a constitutional crisis in Pakistan.

Shehbaz, who is currently in London for medical treatment and to meet his brother Nawaz Sharif, emphasized the need for a transparent inquiry to ascertain the truth regarding President Alvi's conduct.

Highlighting the significance of adhering to legal procedures, Shehbaz stressed that signing summaries and bills is a mandatory duty for prime ministers and other office bearers, including the president.

Emphasizing the formal nature of state affairs, Shehbaz stated that official business is not conducted through verbal or informal means, as signing documents is the established protocol.

Questioning President Alvi's silence and timing, Shehbaz urged him to clarify why he failed to fulfill his responsibilities and only remembered details after a certain period.

Shehbaz also expressed concern about President Alvi's failure to adhere to rules and regulations, especially in regard to returning bills for reconsideration.

In response to his removal from the position of secretary to the president, Waqar Ahmed issued a statement asserting that President Alvi neither approved the Official Secrets (Amendment) Bill, 2023, nor the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Additionally, no written decision was provided to return the bills to parliament for reconsideration.

In a letter addressed to the president, Ahmed outlined the timeline of events for both bills and highlighted that President Alvi did not provide his assent or a written decision for reconsideration.

The developments have ignited discussions about the proper execution of presidential duties and the adherence to established constitutional processes.
