Malala Yousafzai calls for ceasefire in Gaza amid temporary relief

London: Nobel laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai expresses relief over the temporary ceasefire in Gaza following days of Israeli forces' bombardment.

She anticipates the reunification of families, emphasizing the respite for women and children.

Using her platform on X (formerly Twitter), Malala acknowledges the temporary relief but also highlights the ongoing challenges. She foresees the children of Gaza waking up to the aftermath, grieving for loved ones and facing the pressing needs of food and water. The fear of potential attacks on their homes, streets, and schools looms large, she adds.

In a call for continued advocacy, Malala stresses the importance of a complete ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid. She insists that the unnecessary suffering must come to an end, emphasizing her commitment to speaking out for those affected.

Earlier this month, Malala emphasized the imperative that children and schools should never be targeted. She condemned the Israeli forces' bombings of schools and hospitals, resulting in the tragic loss of thousands of children's lives since October 7.

Asserting the violation of international law, she reiterated her call for a ceasefire on X. Malala urged the Israeli government to halt these indiscriminate attacks, which have had severe consequences for countless innocent Palestinian children and families.
