Lahore: JUI-F leader Fazl-ur-Rehman on Monday called on PML-N Supremo and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to strategize and discuss a joint political approach.
The high-profile meeting between JUI-F chief Fazl-ur-Rehman and PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif took place at the party’s central secretariat in Model Town.
The agenda for the one-on-one session included deliberations on a potential formula for seat adjustments between their respective parties in the upcoming general elections.
The sources said that the two leaders also explored the possibility of forming committees to oversee election-related matters in the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On Monday, Nawaz Sharif assumed the chair at a PML-N parliamentary board meeting dedicated to preparations for the forthcoming general elections in 2024, as confirmed by party sources.
Currently, he is actively involved in interviewing candidates aspiring to contest elections in the Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal districts.
Since his return from London, the former prime minister demonstrated heightened activity, taking a hands-on approach in gearing up for his party's participation in the upcoming electoral process.
This development aligns with the official announcement from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), setting the date for the general elections on February 8, 2024.
