Karachi: A major power breakdown hit the metropolitan on Saturday as several areas were left electricity amid the sweltering heat.

According to details, around 45 grid stations in Karachi got suspended, leaving several parts of the city without electricity.
The areas that faced the power outage included New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Saddar, Buffer Zone, Shadman, Sir Syed Town, Nagan Chowrangi, FB Area and North Nazimabad.
Shortly afterwards, K-Electric tweeted that the restoration process has been completed and electricity supply has been restored.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy said that the power outage in the city was caused by the tripping of the NKI line.
"The teams of KE and NTDC are working to restore the supply and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of tripping."
The statement added that the system is normal in the rest of the country.
