Legendary singer Ustad Rashid Khan passes away at 55

Kolkata: The iconic figure of the Indian classical music industry Ustad Rashid Khan died at the age of 55 stout-heartedly fighting with cancer in a private hospital of Kolkata, India on Tuesday.

The painful death of Ustad Rashid Khan saddended the music lovers all over the world. On the other hand, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee showed her sympathy, focusing the great loss to the nation and personally grieving the egress of a good friend.

Speaking to media reporters, Mamata Banerjee said: “He was like a brother to me. He considers me her mother”.

Khan was transferred to a private hospital amid to an intracerebral hemorrhage in east Kolkata November 23, 2023. A neurosurgeon’s team choose treatment without surgery, and in spite the primary signs of recovery, a hospital-acquired infection took a toll on his already fragile health.

Famous vocalist Rashid Khan was placed on a ventilator, but his medical team's efforts proved futile, and he caved in to the unpreventable at 3:45pm.
