Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday initiated an inquiry into the assault on a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate's office in Lahore's Sattoo Katla area.
The office of PPP candidate Manzar Abbas Khokhar was targeted with a petrol bomb on Friday morning.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja took cognizance of the incident and directed ECP officials to file a First Information Report (FIR) based on the complaint lodged by the PPP. The Inspector General of Punjab has also received instructions in this regard.
Senior PPP leader Shazia Marri strongly condemned the assault, labeling it as a cowardly act aimed at disrupting Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's election campaign.
PPP candidate Manzar Abbas Khokhar, contesting from PP-162, submitted a formal complaint at the Township Police Station regarding the attack.
