Hearing of contempt of ECP case adjourned till after elections
The hearing was adjourned till February 20 on the request of founder PTI's lawyer Shoaib Shaheen.
Islamabad: The hearing of the contempt of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Election Commissioner case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry was postponed till after the elections.
According to the details, a four-member bench headed by Member Election Commission Sindh Nisar Durrani conducted the hearing.
PTI lawyers Shoaib Shaheen and and Fawad Chaudhry lawyer Faisal Chaudhry appeared before the Election Commission.
Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen said that he had come to attend as per the order and requested that the hearing be adjourned.
The law wing said that the statements and evidence of the witnesses are to be recorded.
Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen stated that the hearing should be held after February 8, the commission is also busy till the elections, the impression is being made that the election commission is against one party.
Member Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that they are not a party.
Shoaib Shaheen added: “Section 144 has been imposed in various places, rallies are not being allowed to take place, the election symbol of Tehreek-e-Insaaf was also taken away”.
Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member said that elections can be contested even without a bat, to which Shaheen replied how to make public understand this.
Member Election Commission KP told the lawer that they have photos of PTI founder on every poster, bat is not important, people know PTI founder.
The PTI lawyer said that they are ready to hold intra-party elections again under the supervision of the ECP. The party was dissolved for five years after taking the symbol, the Election Commission should record the statements of the witnesses after February 15.
Member Ikramullah Khan said that it has been more than a year that hee case has been delaying.
The hearing was adjourned till February 20 on the request of founder PTI's lawyer Shoaib Shaheen.
