Riyadh: The sun will pass directly over the Holy Kaaba in Makkah today at 1418 hours Pakistan Standard Time (PST), astronomers say.

According to details, the Muslims all over the world will be able to fix the direction of Qibla simply by facing the sun as it will pass over the Holy Kaaba at Makkah.
The head of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, Majed Abu Zahra has said that the disc of the sun will be situated directly over the Holy Kaaba and it will lose its shadow for a brief time.
Astronomers said the celestial phenomenon called “zero shadow” occurs twice every year at the Grand Mosque because of its location between the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer.
The sun passes directly over the Kaaba twice a year on May 27 and July 15.
