ECC approves Ramadan package worth over Rs7.49 billion
It is reported that the committee has proposed to start the Ramadan relief package on utility stores from March 4 which will be applied till Chand Raat.
Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) Friday approved the Ramadan package worth more than Rs7.49 billion.
According to the media reports, the biggest Ramadan package in the country's history has been decided on utility stores this year. Last year, a Ramadan package worth Rs5 billion was approved of Utility Stores, however, this year Ramadan package of Rs7.49 was approved.
It is reported that the committee has proposed to start the Ramadan relief package on utility stores from March 4 which will be applied till Chand Raat.
According to utility stores officials, 19 basic commodities will be discounted through targeted subsidy, including flour, sugar, ghee, cooking oil, rice and pulses.
Dates, gram flour, milk, beverages and spices will be available on discounted rates. While Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) beneficiaries will also get targeted subsidy under the Ramadan package, reportedly.
According to the media reports, in addition to the targeted subsidy in the Ramadan package, a special discounted price will also be set for general consumers.
