Prices of essential commodities significantly increase in Ramadan

Islamabad: The Federal Bureau of Statistics reported that the prices of essential commodities have increased significantly during Ramadan.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, 1.7 percent increase in inflation was recorded in March 2024 after which the annual inflation rate was recorded at 20.7%.
The report of Bureau of Statistics suggested that inflation was 21.9 percent in urban areas and 19 percent in rural areas.
According to the report, tomatoes became expensive by 52%, onions by 28%, and potatoes by 24% during last month.
Fruits became expensive by 22%, vegetables by 13%, meat by four percent, pulses by two percent. The price of beverages, ready-made food, sugar, spices, gram flour also increased.
Last month electricity went up by 5.11%, tailor fee by 3.13% and garments by 2.22%. Motor fuel and medicine prices also increased. While in March, chicken, cooking oil, eggs, wheat, flour, ghee, bakery, dry, nuts became cheaper.
