Islamabad: The federal cabinet on Wednesday sanctioned a salary increase of up to 25% for government employees ahead of the budget presentation in the National Assembly.
During a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a 15% hike in pensions was also approved, according to official sources.
Government employees in grades 1 to 16 will receive a 25% raise, while those in grades 17 to 22 will see a 20% increase.
Furthermore, the cabinet has approved financial support packages for farmers, youth, and industries as part of the upcoming budget.
The federal budget for the next fiscal year has been set at over 18 trillion rupees.
PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will announce the salary and pension increases in his address to the National Assembly.
This decision is viewed as a major effort by the government to address the financial concerns of its employees and pensioners, especially in light of the rising cost of living in the country.
