Batting first against Nepal, South Africa scored 115 runs for the loss of seven wickets


Kingstown: South Africa defeated Nepal by one run in today’s first match of International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 Men’s World Cup after a thrilling encounter.
In the 31st match of T20 World Cup, Nepal won the toss and decided to field first against South Africa.
Batting first against Nepal, South Africa scored 115 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
First innings
South Africa's Reza Hendricks played a responsible innings of 43 runs, besides Tristan Stubbs scored 27 runs, Markram scored 15 runs and de Kock scored 10 runs.
Kaushal Bhattal took four and Dipendra Singh three wickets for Nepal.
Second innings
In pursuit of South Africa's 116 runs, opener Asif Sheikh showed responsible batting and played a brilliant innings of 42 runs with the help of 1 six and four fours off 49 balls.
Nepal's Anil Shah scored 27 runs, Kaushal Bhattal scored 13 runs and Sompal Kami scored eight runs.
In defense of the target, South Africa's Tabriz Shamsi gave 19 runs and sent four players to the pavilion, while Enrich Nokia and Aiden Markram got one wicket each.
The teams of Nepal and South Africa, included in Group D, competed at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown.
With success in three matches, the South African team has qualified for the Super-VIII stage, while Nepal's journey to the World Cup had already ended before the defeat against South Africa.
It is pertinent to note that today's second match was played between New Zealand and Uganda teams, in which New Zealand won after a one-sided competition.
Today's third match will be played between India and Canada while the fourth match will be played between England and Namibia.
