IHC orders to exclude Shibli's name from ECL
Court ordered DG Passport and DG FIA to submit the implementation report
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday ordered to remove the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shibli Faraz from the Exit Control List (ECL).
IHC’s Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard Shibli Faraz's application related to the ban on travelling abroad. PTI leader appeared in the court along with his lawyer.
The counsel for the petitioner took the stand during the hearing that there are four First Information reports (FIRs) against Shibli Faraz and he is on bail in all of them.
Justice Tariq Mehmood inquired from the public prosecutor that what is the ground now. To which the public prosecutor replied that they would follow the court order.
Justice Tariq of IHC remarked that the Ministry of Interior and Director General (DG) Passports could not satisfy the court. The name of Shibli Faraz should be removed from the ECL within a week and a report should be submitted to the court.
The court ordered DG Passport and DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit the implementation report.
