PTI founder had hinted at building ties with Israel despite political slogans
Tel Aviv: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan could be a strong advocate of Pakistan-Israel ties, claimed an article published in Israeli publication Jerusalem Post.
Publication stated that Imran Khan had hinted at building ties with Israel despite political slogans against Israel.
“In 2022 alone, trade between Israel and the UAE jumped 124% to $2.59 billion year-on-year exhibiting the potential,” read the article, suggesting that Pakistan could achieve through a more diversified foreign policy. “For Pakistan, normalization with Israel would bring about significant economic benefits, including technological support in agriculture, cybersecurity, and defense, not to mention potential financial investment, among other things.”
However, article stated that any shift in Pakistan’s stance on Israel would face stiff opposition from the country’s military establishment, which has long resisted normalization.
“A change in leadership, both politically and within the military, may be necessary for such a move to advance,” said the article.
Publication claimed that Khan's potential return to power could play a pivotal role in reshaping public opinion and policy towards Israel, especially as regional dynamics continue to evolve.
