Electricity tariff likely to increase by Rs. 3.24 for Karachi
Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Tuesday once again approved an increase in electricity rates by 3.24 per unit for various consumers of Karachi.
The government is eventually preparing to drop electricity bomb on the people of Karachi as electricity rates are being increased in the context of fuel price adjustment.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a hearing on February 23 in this regard.
In case of increase, additional burden of Rs. 6 billion will be imposed on the citizens of Karachi.
Earlier in July-September, K Electric requested increase of Rs. 1.87 per unit and demanded decrease for October-December.
K Electric also requested a quarterly adjustment for Rs. 3.80 per unit.
