Under the project, 8,000 tube wells across Punjab will be converted to solar energy


Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the solarization project of agricultural tube wells.
Maryam Nawaz held a draw for the solarization project of agricultural tube wells. The name of citizen Muhammad Nawaz of Attock was the first to come out in the draw for the solarization project of agricultural tube wells. The Punjab Chief Minister also checked the list of lucky farmers of Narowal district.
Under the project, 8,000 tube wells across Punjab will be converted to solar energy in the first phase through a draw. The average farmer will save more than Rs10,000 per day and more than Rs3,25,000 per month from solar tube wells.
The Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs0.5 million for a 10-kW solar system for agricultural tube wells, Rs0.75 million for a 15-kW solar system, and Rs1 million for a 20-kW solar system.
The successful farmers in the lottery will select the vendor of the respective district and install the solar system. More than 530,000 farmers applied for the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Tube Wells Solarization Project in Punjab, out of which 385,000 farmers were declared eligible for the lottery.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz set a target of completing the solarization of agricultural tube wells in the first phase by June. 87 percent of diesel-powered agricultural tube wells and 13 percent of electric-powered agricultural tube wells will be converted to solar energy.
In this regard, Maryam Nawaz said that the solarization project of agricultural tube wells will bring a revolution in farming. Solarization of agricultural tube wells will significantly reduce the cost of crop production and the farmer will be prosperous. Every project, including Kisan Card, Agricultural Mechanization, and Agri Internship, brings convenience and improvement to the farmer.
