‘Strict actions would be taken against anyone violating fare rules’


Karachi: To prevent fare overcharging during Eidul Fitr, the Sindh government has cancelled the holidays of all staff in the transport department.
This will ensure they remain on duty throughout the holiday period. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced this decision, saying transport officials will monitor fares as part of a province-wide effort to stop transporters from charging higher rates.
Memon mentioned that fare overcharging is a common issue during Eid and the government is committed to making sure people pay only the approved fares.
Officers from the Sindh Transport Authority, along with regional and district transport bodies, will be stationed to handle complaints quickly. The minister also warned that strict actions would be taken against anyone violating fare rules.
He encouraged the public to report any incidents of overcharging so authorities could act fast. Memon reassured citizens that the government is taking all necessary steps to protect passengers and address transport issues during Eid.
