Session will focus on the current security situation, especially growing friction with India

(Web Desk): Pakistan’s civil and military leadership will hold a national security briefing on Sunday for political party representatives, following rising tensions with India after an attack on tourists in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the briefing will be led by Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Director General of ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. The session will focus on the current security situation, especially growing friction with India.
Tensions have increased since the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists. India has blamed Pakistan for the incident without any evidence— a claim strongly denied by Islamabad. Both countries have exchanged sharp statements, with India promising action and Pakistan warning of a strong response to any military move.
In a related development, President Asif Ali Zardari has called an emergency session of the National Assembly on Monday evening. Lawmakers are expected to officially condemn India’s threat to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty — a long-standing water-sharing agreement between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar rejected India’s accusations, saying, “Pakistan has nothing to do with the Pahalgam attack.” He also called for a joint investigation under agreed Terms of Reference and questioned the timing of India’s claims, suggesting they are aimed at disrupting Pakistan’s economic recovery.
